Crate training gets a bad reputation — but when done right, it’s not a “doggy jail”… it’s your puppy’s safe little den 🐾

Whether you’re dealing with a brand-new puppy or one who thinks the crate is absolutely unacceptable, here’s how to make crate training simple, gentle, and stress-free.

Hey pet fam!

Accidents happen — especially with puppies, seniors, or the occasional “revenge pee.”

But here’s the truth: not all cleaners are created equal, and most just mask the smell.

So if you’re ready to say goodbye to that lingering “oops” odor…

Here are our top 3 go-to products that are:

✅ Organic

✅ Non-toxic & pet-friendly

✅ Made in the USA

✅ Actually work

🐶 Step 1: Make the crate feel like a reward, not a rule

Before you ever close the door, the crate should already feel good.

  • leave the door open

  • toss treats inside randomly

  • feed meals near or inside the crate

  • add a cozy bed or blanket that smells like home

No forcing, no dragging, no “just get in there.”
We want your puppy to choose the crate on their own.

Think of it like inviting them into a cozy café — not locking them in a room.

🍪 Step 2: short stays + positive exits

Once your puppy is comfy going in, start with very short crate times.

  • ask them to go in

  • give a treat or chew

  • close the door for 10–30 seconds

  • open it before they fuss

This teaches them:

👉 being calm = freedom

Slowly increase time as they succeed.

If they cry, you went too fast — totally normal, just reset and shorten it again.

😴 Step 3: pair the crate with rest, not separation

The crate works best when it’s linked to calm moments.

  • after playtime

  • during nap hours

  • at bedtime

  • when the house is quiet

Avoid using the crate only when you’re leaving — that’s how puppies start associating it with stress.

A well-used crate says:

“This is where I rest, reset, and feel safe.”

💗 A gentle reminder

Crate training isn’t about control.

It’s about giving your puppy a space that belongs just to them.

Every puppy learns at a different pace — patience is the secret ingredient.
