Today I want to let everyone know about a great business that I visited a few days ago. I met with Gerry the General Manager at SVPC the other day. I met Gerry at the San Diego Humane Society’s Walk for Animal event in May. He graciously invited me to tour the property of the Sorrento Valley Pet Cemetery & Cremation.
First of all I was a bit surprised by how beautiful and nice the property was. They had a beautiful garden, fountain and a little chapel where you say good bye to your pet. It was a very peaceful environment. What made It better is that they have a small pup as a “greeter” and he’s usually casually laying down by the front to greet any guests. Gerry said he puts a smile on every guest who comes in and gives them a little joy because obviously no one is happy to be bringing their pet to be put down. I thought this was a nice touch and the pup was so sweet.
What I was also surprised about this place is how clean It was and It did not SMELL one bit. He told me they (sadly) cremate about 100 pets per day! You couldn’t even tell that they were cremating pets at all!! He did show me everything from the freezer where they kept the pets, the cremation bed and the autopsy area. They are the only ones that will do an autopsy and tell you why your pet died!!! That is pretty incredible since vets will often say they don’t know the cause or reason.
Their cemetery was very beautiful as well with each pet's stone with their name and date of living.
I know we never want to think about the day we have to say goodbye to our pets but I was glad to have met Gerry and his company. They provide excellent care and professionalism from the moment you walk into their place till you leave. They also come to you to put your pet down as well. They have 4 vans and are always running around town so you might have even seen them already! If you are seeking for a special place to take your pet or have someone come to you I highly recommend this place!
